Michael Wolfe

Like you, business executive expert and technologist Michael Wolfe has seen many critical company initiatives succeed and many more of them fail. What makes one high-level initiative win and another that is critical to company success drag on without success? Is it leadership? Incentives? Or is the answer a bit more complex?

Drawing from his over twenty-eight years of hands-on experience in the enterprise software industry, Michael’s approach stands in stark contrast with other consultants. Michael understands the nuance and complexity of operating in the current working environment and what it takes to accomplish meaningful outcomes as a team. Success relies on clarity of purpose and aligned outcomes. If either of those are out of focus, the chances of success drastically decline.

Michael, often just referred to as “Wolfe” by those he has worked with, has repeatedly been able to enter into an off-track situation and improve the results for the company beyond their expectations. Using a fusion of deep domain expertise and executive communication, Michael connects with all stakeholders at a level they appreciate and require for ongoing success.

Michael has served as the Chief Technology Officer for over a decade and General Manager of the Federal business unit for another decade at a sector-leading enterprise software company. He is now bringing his business, technology, and executive leadership expertise to his own consulting company, thewolfe.net, where he will continue to work with the best and brightest in business, software, and government industries around the globe.

His areas of expertise include:

  • Deep-domain knowledge of agile software development methodologies and the software development lifecycle, including all the buzz words of Dev Ops, Dev Sec Ops, Scrum, Kanban, and CI/CD, as well as the orchestration and automation of the entire build and deployment process, while meeting the company and leadership goals for predictability and transparency;
  • Government software business lines, including the sales process, business development, sales channels and partner strategy, procurement, service delivery, and security and compliance requirements of Federal and State and Local governments;
  • Operational excellence with efficiency improvement and process standardization, allowing for growth and predictability with increased percentage EBITDA;
  • M&A transactions on both the buy side and the sell side, including private equity, investment banks, due diligence, and integration;
  • Digital IT platforms and architecture that support enterprise growth and predictability with scalability and the right information architecture to match corporate goals;
  • Standing up new business lines and establishing sales, services, and operations that support independent business unit verticals.

Prior to his executive management roles, Michael was a software engineer and architect with a focus on new technology adoption, enterprise information architectures, and the product and innovation lifecycle. With additional background in hardware deployment, he has a deep understanding of networking and infrastructure as well as complex security and compliance standards. He has also served on multiple boards of advisors where he has assisted with successful acquisitions as well as early-round investment funding of both international and domestic companies. Michael is also interested in photography.
