As a now product manager and committed lifelong learner, McKenzie Powell has a continuous appetite to expand her horizons. Does a growth mindset really improve the tenacity of the team? Does this kind of resilience impact the overall success of a product for the customer? 

A decade of experience in the fields of teaching, marketing communications, and social media management have fine tuned McKenzie’s active listening and appreciation for individual lived experiences, helping her to hear the needs and voice of the customer in her product management work today. She has developed superior communication skills, graphic design skills, and the understanding of how to use them together to reach the customer. She has also developed the ability to understand how a reader engages with content, giving her a competitive edge in the product management space. She adds to that her experience with creating influence through social media and bringing life to user stories and requirements that inspire the team and resonate with the end users. 

Currently an associate for the expert network, Guidepoint, McKenzie is a specialist in linking customer needs with the right resource. This includes matching skill sets of individuals to business outcomes and communication needs with the right message at the right time. She also employs a host of project management skills to help facilitate customer meetings and communicate with customers and partners in order to fulfill requests on time and under budget. This keeps customer satisfaction at its highest.

Prior to her entry into the product world, McKenzie spent half a decade as an educator, specializing in elementary, special, and digital media and STEM education. In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies, with a specialization in Africa and minors in French and Anthropology, and a Masters of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University. She also holds a Product Management Certificate from Brainstation.
